He's supposed to be worried or concerned about something. This way to represent this is quite common in japanese animation, as far as I know.

I am really glad you like it. To be honest, it took me more time than I expected, so the fact you come to like it makes worth the effort.

As for the background, there are no words, the only text is my dA profile url I put in all my pieces, as a form of watermark. The background, though, has meaning, as you see there's a white and black part opposite in side to the skin colour, and their expressions, which are also opposite from each other but associated accordingly to the background colour this time.
